AP Exam Information

How to Register for AP Exams

  • If Your School Offers AP Courses:

    • Contact your school's AP Coordinator to register for AP courses and exams.
    • Pay any associated school fees directly through your school.
  • If Your School Does Not Offer AP Courses:

    • Search the College Board AP Course Ledger to find approved schools that offer AP courses and exams.
    • Search by country, state/province, or city to locate a nearby school that allows external students to test.
    • Contact the school, speak to their AP Coordinator, and confirm if you can register as an external student.
    • If accepted, the AP Coordinator will order exam materials, inform you of the test schedule, and collect fees.
    • Tip: Start searching early! While November 15 is the usual deadline, some schools may still accept students after this date but may charge late fees.

AP for Homeschooled Students

  • If you’re homeschooled or your school does not host AP exams, use the AP Course Ledger to find schools that accept external test-takers.
  • Contact the AP Coordinator at the chosen school to confirm their policy and deadlines for homeschoolers.
  • Arrange all details early in the academic year, as policies and local deadlines may vary.
  • The AP Coordinator will handle exam materials, scheduling, and payment.

AP Exam Break Rules

  • You may not access textbooks, notes, teachers, or other students during breaks.
  • You may not use electronic or communication devices, including phones, during breaks.
  • You are not allowed to leave the building at any point during exam administration.

Late Testing

  • If unexpected circumstances or exam conflicts arise, discuss alternate testing dates with your AP Coordinator as soon as possible.
  • You may register for late testing if two exams are scheduled at the same time, or in special situations approved by College Board.
  • Late-testing policies and fees may apply. Always confirm arrangements well in advance.
