What is the ACT?
The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions in the U.S. and accepted by over 225 international institutions. It includes English, Math, Reading, Science, and an optional Writing section. A strong score can enhance admission chances and scholarship eligibility.
ACT Test Sections
- English: Grammar, punctuation, structure, rhetoric
- Math: Algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics (calculators allowed)
- Reading: Comprehension based on various academic passages
- Science: Reasoning, analysis, interpretation of charts and research
- Writing (Optional): Persuasive essay with given perspectives
ACT Scoring & Timing
- Each section: 1–36; Composite: average of 4 sections
- Writing: Scored 2–12 separately
Test Duration:
- English: 45 min | Math: 60 min | Reading: 35 min | Science: 35 min | Writing: 40 min
