What is the SSAT?
The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is a standardized entrance exam used by U.S. private and independent schools to evaluate students applying to Grades 4 through 12.
SSAT Test Levels
- Elementary Level: For applicants to Grades 4–5
- Middle Level: For applicants to Grades 6–8
- Upper Level: For applicants to Grades 9–12 (or PG year)
SSAT Structure
- Quantitative (Math): Covers arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and logic
- Reading Comprehension: Assesses understanding of short passages
- Verbal: Focuses on vocabulary, analogies, and logic
- Writing Sample: Not scored, but submitted to schools
- Experimental Section: 16 unscored questions for test development
